The designer Bible - Part 5. - Ann Demeulemeester

Welcome back!

Today we will be talking about Ann Demu.....Demuleeme.....demeestule  Demeulemeester. Just in case you are as awful at pronouncing her name as I am, here's a little help:

While searching for photos to add to this post, I stumbled upon so many of her designs involving feathers in such a cool way, I couldn't resist the temptation of adding more, than one. They look wild and dangerous, so I LIKE IT!

Our gorgeous, starry eyed Ann finished her studies in 1981, when she graduated Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts. She launched her label under her own name in 1985.

The brand mirrors Demeulemeester's outlook on fashion: the men's and women's lines both carry the touches of the opposites - dark and light, rough and soft, sheer and opaque.

The Belgian fashion guru seems to be influenced mostly by rock music, her garments have a Gothic vibe to them - black seems to be a returning (if not constantly present) color in her collections, and she seems to have a thing for leather as well - and seeing the results, we don't blame her for it!

With the help of the brand's CEO, Anne Chapelle, and Creative Director and designer of the men's line since 2010, Sebastien Meunier, the Ann Demeulemeester house became one of the most influential Belgian companies of all time. Amen!

That's it for today kids, time to go to bed!
