The designer Bible - Part 13. - Catherine Walker



Catherine Walker was born in France, 06.27.1945. After moving to London, he started learning fashion design at night school. She made her daughters' dresses herself, and these garments she later started selling as well. She opened her first store, Catherine Walker & Co. in 1994. During her career she avoided the spotlight, gave interviews only on rare occasions. 

Sophistication and elegance were the two main characteristics of her artistry, she made thousands of dresses for Diana as well.

Her work was highly appreciated, she got the British Fashion Awards - Designer of the Year in 1990, then she accepted the same title from Glamour magazine the next year. She was one of the most liked designers, who's creations were worn by famous personalities such as Joely Richardson, Shakira Caine and Noor, queen of Jordan.

Diana's favorite dress was designed by Chaterine, she wore it for two events.

The designer died in 2010 in the UK. The Catherine Walker & Co collections reflect her style to this day.
